Prenup Season is Here
According to the widely utilized wedding planner app “the knot” , summer and early fall are the most popular times to get married. For couples interested in a prenuptial agreement, that means now is the season to start the prenuptial agreement process.
One of the most important factors a court looks at when the enforceability of a prenuptial agreement is challenged is timing. Most relevant is the date the prenup negotiations started, when the prenup agreement was signed and the wedding date. Generally, the more time that passes between these dates, the more likely it is the agreement will be enforceable.
So if you are planning to marry this June and haven’t yet started the prenup process, start it immediately. And if a September or October wedding is in your future, it certainly isn’t too early to begin.
