Lisa Cappalli’s core philosophy has been the same since she started representing divorcing people – To help you move forward with your life by: listening to your concerns, fears, and dreams; answering your questions about divorce; and empowering you to make the best choices for yourself and your family.
Lisa’s proudest professional accomplishment was setting out to create a non-adversarial divorce practice long before non-adversarial divorce was popular – and then doing it. It wasn’t easy and wasn’t always profitable, but Lisa never waivered from her vision of offering clients different and better ways to divorce.
Her knowledge, patience, and calm demeanor has allowed Lisa to successfully mediate high conflict divorces since the early 1990s. By the early 2000s she’d become one of the most experienced and respected collaborative divorce lawyers in Connecticut. As a result, Lisa’s non-adversarial practice has allowed countless couples to divorce privately, respectfully, and creatively.
Not being satisfied with offering collaboration only to her own clients, Lisa introduced the collaborative divorce option to thousands of couples indirectly through numerous outreach activities including programs for therapists, accountants, physicians and other lawyers. Becoming affiliated with Freed Marcroft in 2017, a firm committed to non-adversarial divorce, with a state- wide client base, provided one more opportunity for Lisa to expand her vision.
Lisa is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lehigh University and earned her JD at Cornell University Law School. She has been chosen by her peers as a Connecticut Super Lawyer for three decades and been hired by other divorce lawyers as an expert witness in collaborative divorce in both civil litigation and administrative proceedings. Lisa is a MENSA member, enjoys pickleball, travel and family time. She’s pursuing two new hobbies – bridge and shooting.
Being a client’s ally, advocate, and advisor isn’t simply Lisa’s job, it is who she is.
